On June 24, 2025, our annual general assembly of the Association of Friends of the Institute of Concrete Structures at TU Darmstadt took place – featuring engaging technical discussions, great conversations, and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces.

The association has been supporting research and teaching at the Institute of Concrete Structures for many years, bringing together students, alumni, and representatives from both industry and academia.

As part of the assembly, two outstanding academic works were once again honored this year:

Luca Matschat, M.Sc. received the award for the best master’s thesis:

“Experimental investigation of detachable connections for slab systems made of prestressed carbon concrete”.

Dr.-Ing. Lukas Bujotzek was recognized for his dissertation:

“Fibre reinforced polymer reinforcement in compression”.

Both works make a significant contribution to the advancement of innovative construction methods and sustainable materials in concrete structures. Congratulations to both awardees!

We concluded the evening with perfect weather, delicious food, and refreshing drinks in a relaxed atmosphere at the summer festival.
