Youth Promotion – Visit of the Edith Stein School at the IfM
Technical Course from the Upper School Visiting the Institute for Solid Structures
2025/04/28
Last Friday, we welcomed a group of pupils from the 12th grade technology course at Edith-Stein-Schule to the Institute for Solid Structures.
As part of an introductory, interactive lecture, the participants were first given an introduction to solid construction. In particular, fundamental aspects of load-bearing behaviour and the production of reinforced concrete structures were discussed. Finally, a small calculation example of a bending beam was even discussed with the students to make the theoretical content tangible.
This was followed by a compact tour of our test hall. There, the pupils were able to experience various small-body tests live – including compression tests on clay blocks and concrete bodies, a splitting tensile test and a comparison of small test beams with and without reinforcement.
We were delighted by the great interest and commitment shown by the entire group and we also enjoyed the event immensely. We are delighted with the lively dialogue and hope to see some of the faces again as students in a few years' time!
