Reinforced concrete structures III
M.Sc.

The course Reinforced concrete structures III, which is offered to Master's students, serves as an in-depth lecture in the field of reinforced concrete structures and builds on the content of the courses Reinforced concrete structures I and Reinforced concrete structures II.

Course language: German | 6 CP | 4 SWS

Term: summer semester

Schedule: Tue. 11:40-13:20 | Thu. 09:50-11:30

Content

In this lecture, the fundamentals of the design of reinforced concrete structures covered in the bachelor’s modules “Reinforced Concrete I + II” are supplemented by more in-depth content and background knowledge. For students specializing in structural concrete engineering, this module provides an ideal introduction to thesis work at the Institute for Solid Structures and prepares students for professional roles in “structural engineering” and “structural analysis.”

Topics

  • Building materials (non-linear methods and concrete additives)
  • Non-linear determination of internal forces & load redistribution
  • Moment-normal force-curvature relationships (M-N-κ)
  • Fire protection in concrete construction
  • Frameworks (wall structures, wall-like beams, brackets)
  • Design of reinforced concrete structures under torsional loading
  • Design of reinforced concrete structures under inclined bending

Lecture announcement:

TUCaN / Moodle: Registration for the course in TUCaN is necessary, as communication about the lecture (changes of lecture content, room changes, requests from students, etc.) takes place via Moodle!

Participation in Reinforced Concrete Structures III does not require participation in the Bachelor's modules Reinforced Concrete Structures I+II, but is recommended.

Schedule / Materials

The current schedule and course materials will be made available in the Moodle course. If you have access problems, please contact the responsible research assistant by e-mail.

Discussion hour

In addition to the course, discussion hours are offered during the lecture period:

Monday and Wednesday, 13:00 to 14:00

Academic achievement / Assignment

Two homework exercises must be completed, which counts for 30% of the overall grade for the module. (Submission of exercises as upload in Moodle)

Exam

Duration: 90 min (30 min general questions without auxiliary means + 60 min calculation part with all common auxiliary means)

Date / Place: see Moodle / TUCaN

Exam discussion hours: Usually one week before the exam. For details see Moodle course

Exam review: see Moodle course
