This year’s PhD seminar organised by the Institute for Solid Structures took place from 18 to 20 August 2026 in Houffalize, in the Belgian Ardennes. During the three-day seminar, the research staff came together to present their current research work and discuss the progress of their doctoral projects.

The focus was on the presentations given by the PhD students on their research topics, work packages and scientific questions. The subsequent discussions provided an opportunity to gain new perspectives and take away valuable insights for their future research work.

In addition to the academic programme, the event also focused on promoting personal exchange within the team. A group hike through the Belgian Ardennes provided an opportunity for conversations away from the daily routine and strengthened teamwork within the research group.
