Visit to the Dreßler precast concrete plant

Excursion as part of the master’s module “Prefabricated Structures”

2026/01/23

This year again, as part of our module “Precast Concrete Construction,” we had the opportunity to visit the Dreßler Bau GmbH precast concrete plant in Stockstadt am Main.

At wintery temperatures, we were welcomed with a very informative and practice-oriented tour through the production halls and the integrated concrete laboratory, as well as across the plant premises. During the visit, we gained fascinating insights into the manufacturing of precast concrete elements as well as into the internal production processes and quality control procedures of a precast plant.

Among other things, we observed structural precast elements such as PI slabs, columns, and roof trusses, as well as wall and façade elements that are manufactured specifically for each project and application. This was complemented by explanations of different surface finishes for façade panels, sample façades, and the application of sandblasting techniques in the field of architectural concrete.

The Institute for Solid Structures would like to sincerely thank Dreßler Bau GmbH and especially Florian Zahn for the excellent tour and for taking the time to explain the processes and products to us in detail. We also thank all participating students for their great interest.

A decisive contribution to the quality of the module “Prefabricated Structures” was again made this semester by Mathias Tillmann (Fachvereinigung Deutscher Betonfertigteilbau e.V.), who taught the theoretical fundamentals. We are very pleased that he delivers the lectures as part of the module and regularly enriches the theoretical content with practical examples from precast construction. This enables the students to directly link what they have learned to real construction and production processes – an important contribution to the connection between theory and practice. Thank you very much!
